The classic first-timer Blue Mountains itinerary done well — Three Sisters, Scenic World and Leura village, with timing tips and lunch suggestions.
Why this combination works
If it's your first Blue Mountains trip, the Three Sisters, Scenic World and Leura village are the right three things to choose. The Three Sisters and Echo Point give you the iconic view; Scenic World gives you the railway, skyway and cableway experience inside the valley; Leura gives you the village atmosphere, lunch and a sense of why people live up here.
Combined, these three stops give first-time visitors everything they expect to see, with enough time for one lookout walk and a relaxed lunch. It's also the most accessible combination — there's a paved path at Echo Point, ramps at Scenic World, and Leura Mall is flat and short.
Suggested running order
Sydney pickup mid-morning. Direct drive to Leura village for a relaxed long lunch (90 minutes). Walk Leura Mall and browse the antique stores. Echo Point and the Three Sisters in the early afternoon (45 minutes). Scenic World (90 minutes — railway down, cableway up, walkway loop). One more lookout if there's time, then back to Sydney by 6:30pm.
We can flip the order if your group wants Scenic World first while energy is high, or push Echo Point to last for the soft late-afternoon light. Either works.
Lunch ideas
Silk's Brasserie and Leura Garage are both reliable Leura options. If you'd prefer a Katoomba lunch, the Old City Bank Bar at The Carrington is a great heritage option. For a casual, kid-friendly choice, Station Bar + Woodfired Pizza in Katoomba is the easiest call.
Cassiopeia Coffee is the right stop if you want a quick morning espresso on arrival rather than a sit-down meal. Black Cockatoo Bakery is good for a between-meals pastry.

Should you do Scenic World?
Scenic World is a paid attraction (tickets not included). It's worth it for first-timers and most family groups, especially if anyone has limited mobility — the cableway and skyway are accessible and give you the valley experience without a walk. If you've been before or strongly prefer free lookouts, skip it and add Govetts Leap and Evans Lookout in Blackheath instead.
On busy weekends and school holidays, book Scenic World tickets online in advance and aim for a 10am or 2pm arrival to avoid the lunchtime crowd. Allow 90 minutes minimum to do the full loop properly.
Adding a fourth stop
If your group has energy and the timing works, the strongest fourth stops are Wentworth Falls (gentle upper-lookout circuit, 30 minutes), Sublime Point Lookout (5-minute viewpoint with a quieter outlook than Echo Point), or a quick Katoomba Falls walk from the top carpark. For a longer add, drive up to Govetts Leap in Blackheath — the most dramatic free lookout in the upper mountains.
